Mokosh Statue
Mokosh is one of the few Slavic deities clearly attested in historical sources, making her especially important in understanding pre-Christian beliefs.
She is primarily associated with earth, moisture, and fertility, governing the growth of crops and the well-being of the land. Unlike more distant sky gods like Perun, Mokosh is a grounded, nurturing presence, tied closely to everyday life.
Mokosh is also strongly connected to women’s roles and domestic crafts, especially spinning, weaving, and textile work—activities that symbolically link her to the weaving of fate. Because of this, she was seen as a protector of women, overseeing childbirth, marriage, and household prosperity.
